Health Alert:  U.S. Embassy Accra, Ghana (March 27, 2020)

Location:  Ghana

Event:  Avoid COVID-19 Related Scams

The U.S Embassy’s highest priority is the safety and security of U.S. citizens in Ghana.  While we work to facilitate repatriation flights for U.S. citizens who wish to return to the United States, we would like to call your attention to potential scams related to COVID-19.  Do not trust any individual or group who offers to secure any U.S. government services on your behalf, including seats on a U.S. Government repatriation flight to the United States.

All correspondence related to repatriation flights and U.S. Embassy services will come from an official Department of State email address ending in @state.gov.  Do not provide your personal information by responding to any email or clicking on any link that comes from an unofficial or untrusted source.

We have also received reports of illegitimate non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and charities soliciting donations. Do not send money to any unverified group, or to a person that you have not met.  Please refer to our website’s sections on Financial or “419” Scams and Romance Scams.
