Health Alert:  U.S. Embassy Accra, Ghana

Health Alert:  U.S. Embassy Accra, Ghana (April 14, 2020)

Location:  Ghana

Event:  Ghana Immigration Service Assisting with Contact Tracing

The U.S Embassy’s highest priority is the safety and security of U.S. citizens in Ghana.  While we work to facilitate repatriation flights for U.S. citizens who wish to return to the United States, we would like to call your attention to a recent Ghana Immigration Service directive.  The Ghana Immigration Service has instructed all landlords and property owners to report tenants who arrived in Ghana between March 3 and March 23, 2020.  The Ghana Immigration Service is requesting the information to facilitate contact tracing related to COVID-19.  For questions related to this directive, the Ghana Immigration Service can be reached by calling 029 150 2110, 029 150 2169, 029 150 2257, and 029 150 2253.

We encourage all Americans in Ghana to follow the Government of Ghana’s directives as part of its effort to “flatten the curve.”

Repatriation Flights:  Flights on all commercial airlines in and out of Ghana have been cancelled.  Each U.S. citizen and LPR traveler interested in any future repatriation flights must complete the online request form available here.  Do this EVEN IF YOU HAVE ALREADY SENT YOUR PERSONAL DETAILS TO US VIA EMAIL.  It is not necessary to call or email the Embassy to confirm receipt of your request.  Unless you receive an email from the U.S. Embassy in Accra, using an email address ending in @state.gov, and instructing you to come to the airport, please do not come to the Embassy or go to the airport.
