Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Violence in Avenor Neighborhood, Accra

The U.S. Embassy has received reports of violence in the Avenor neighborhood of Accra. As a result, the Ghana Police Service maintains a heavy presence and has diverted traffic in the vicinity of the neighborhood. The U.S. Embassy urges U.S. citizens to avoid the neighborhood until normal traffic patterns are restored. U.S. Embassy personnel have been instructed to avoid this area.

Review your personal security plans, remain aware of your surroundings, including local events, and monitor local news stations for updates.  Be vigilant and take appropriate steps to enhance your personal security and follow instructions of local authorities.
